Blog 2
This week we had a homework assignment about the Lowell Mill girls. It was a very interesting read. I understand that these girls where so excited about getting a chance to get out and work, and have experiences. Even though the conditions where pretty bad. But if I was one of those girls I would be just as happy as they where. If I put myself in there shoes or if anyone did, then anyone would be happy to live the life those girls where over the life they where living before the factories. The conditions in which the girls where working was not by any standard safe or a good work environment. And from the letters that I read that where written my the Lowell Mill girls, they where happy about what they where doing and excited about the life they where leading. But I think that these girls where pioneers for woman rights and woman equality. They showed that woman where strong and could work and be treated as equals. These girls where independent and brave for what it was they where doing. If these girls could be here today to see how far we have come it would be an honor to say thank you. Because if those girls didn't leave there homes to go and work in factories, we might not have the gender equality we have today.
